Screw selection matters more than most people realise: correct length (roughly two-thirds into the receiving material), correct thread profile (coarse for softwood, finer for hardwood and MDF), and correct head type (countersunk for flush finish, pan head for surface fixing, hex head for structural applications).

Shelf brackets, joist hangers, post anchors, angle brackets, and pipe clips are the structural fittings that transfer loads safely. Using a bracket rated for the actual load — not just any bracket that fits the screw holes — is fundamental.
